Workshop with Mikko Seppinen

3.-5. May 2019

We are excited to welcome back Mikko Seppinen for another mindful workshop, that will advance the level and understanding of your yoga practise. For decades, Mikko Seppinen has studied the art and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga and has become a level 2 Mysore teacher at the Shri K. Patthabi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Insitute.

Friday 17.00-19.00
Led Class & Pranayama Beyond
Friday we will uncover the eight limbs (ashtanga) from the ancient Yoga Sutra. The eight limbs remind us that yoga is not just about physical exercise but also contains ethical and meditational practices. In this regard, Mikko will be talking about the different elements of an Ashtanga yoga practise; philosophy, pranayama (breathing) practices and cultivating the state of meditation. This session will end with a led practice.

Saturday 9.00-11.00
Mysore/Breath and Pranayama
These sessions will support the idea that the breath is the most powerful aspect of yoga. We will enhance our awareness of breathing to deepen our asana practice and do a basic seated pranayama practice. The session is followed by traditional Mysore practice.

Saturday 14.00-16.00
Open Your Heart Workshop
In this workshop, we will break down individual elements that allow us to backbend with control and comfort. Through an exploration of different types of backbends, we will look at various restrictions that may be preventing us from opening the front of the body and finding ease in the postures.
Are you ready to cultivate understanding, build strength, conquer fear, and open your heart to experience the amazing benefits of opening your spine? For all levels, all styles of practitioners.

Sunday 9.00-11.00
Mysore/Breath and Pranayama
These sessions will support the idea that the breath is the most powerful aspect of yoga. We will enhance our awareness of breathing to deepen our asana practice and do a basic seated pranayama practice. The session is followed by traditional Mysore practice.

Sunday 14.00-16.00
Turn Your World Upside Down
Inversions are for many of us the most powerful group of yoga postures. When we turn our bodies upside down, we are literally turning our world upside down. Turning upside down allows us to experience everything we know as right side up, typical and normal pulled out from beneath us.

This workshop will break down the evolution of arm balances and inversions in the Ashtanga method but is suitable for all yoga practitioners. We will explore shoulder stands, forearm stand, headstand, as well as other arm balances, and aim to find the lighter side of the Ashtanga practice.
